Tom Kerr
Tom Kerr, now in his 80th year, is an architect by profession. He has won plaudits not only as a painter but also as a poet.
His paintings are indeed the opposite of an architect's drawings, being impressionist in style with characteristic subdued tones, very often in shades of grey.
The overall effect is to imbue the familiar subjects with a mystic, almost ethereal quality.
Nowdays he paints almost exclusively in oils, and his work is always in serious demand from collectors in Northern Ireland and Dublin.
Tom is also celebrated for the success of the Kerr Art Group, a select coterie of painters in North Down who meet regularly to work under his guidance.
This group, through its exhibitions, has raised many thousands of pounds for the good causes it supports.
